The Al-Khalid-I (Urdu: الخال; lit. eternal) is the Pakistani upgraded variant of NORINCO's MBT2000, retrofitted by Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) in the 2020s. After the Sino-Pakistani developed MBT2000 passed certification in both the PLAGF and the Pakistan Army, the first of the Al-Khalid series joined the Pakistan Army in 2001 alongside imported Ukrainian T-80UDs. While feedback from its operators was positive, the Al-Khalid would still require further upgrades to keep pace with mainstream MBT development, especially against the Indian Army which had acquired the T-90S and planned for the T-90SM. With a sufficient supply of engines from the Ukrainian KMDB and experience gained on the T-85 IIAP's production, the Al-Khalid-I eventually received FCS and ergonomic upgrades in the 2010s. Officially introduced on 28th July 2020, the upgraded tank is now replacing the previous fleet of T-59/69 tanks and further boosting Pakistan's national defence capability, with plans to further upgrade the vehicle with a Chinese powerpack and redesigned turret in progress.
Introduced in Update "Dance of Dragons", the Al-Khalid-I has identical handling, firepower, and protection to the MBT2000. The tank features a powerful 1,200 hp engine with great reverse speed, providing the mobility for players to strike enemy flanks and deliver fatal blows. Although its protection might not be the best at its tier, it can sometimes save the tank from total destruction.
