During the Chinese Civil War, both the Nationalist and Communist armies deployed numerous LVT(4)s and LVT(A)(4)s. Following the Nationalists' defeat in 1949, the PLA captured many of these vehicles. When US ammunition supplies for the original LVT(A)(4)'s 75 mm M2 howitzer ceased after the war, the PLA replaced its turret with a high-velocity 57 mm ZIS-2 anti-tank gun, combining dual anti-tank and infantry support capabilities.
Introduced in Update 1.91 "Night Vision", the LVT(A)(4) (ZiS-2) offers War Thunder players a unique tank blending American and Soviet design philosophies. Despite its light armour, the LVT(A)(4) (ZiS-2) proves formidable against similarly ranked opponents, thanks to its high-velocity 57 mm ZiS-2 gun, which extends engagement range significantly compared to the original LVT(A)(4). However, its open-top turret and tall profile leave it extremely vulnerable to aircraft attacks and artillery fire.
