The Alano is a motor gun boat of the Landing Craft Support (LCS) family, in particular the Large type Mk.3. Laid down on August 1944 by Commercial Iron Works, Portland in the USA, launched on 16 September 1944 and put into service on 30 September 1944 as LCS(L)34, she was used in the Pacific War as a support ship for Allied landings with her sisters, participating in landings at Tarakan and Balikpapan. After World War II, she was given to Italy on 25 July 1951 under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program and was used as a coast guard ship and renamed Alano (L9851). She was decommissioned in August 1971.
Introduced in Update "Seek & Destroy", the Alano is a large gunboat with powerful armament composed of five 40 mm Bofors cannons, four 20 mm Oerlikons, and four AN-M2 machine guns. However, it has terrible survivability. The Alano does not fare well in the presence of enemy destroyers and more modern boats, and these types of opponents should be avoided when possible.
