The RN Dardo was one of the Dardo-class destroyers succeeding the Turbine class. The major difference was the ship's range and the replacement of the 120/45 OTO Mod.1926 guns with twin 120/50 Ansaldo Mod.1926 guns. The RN Dardo was laid down at the OTO shipyard in Genoa on 23 January 1929, launched 6 July 1930, and eventually commissioned on 25 January 1932. She was used by both the Regia Marina and the German Navy after her capture following the armistice of 8 September 1943, in her service with the Regia Marina she took part in several battles from the Spanish Civil War, escort operations until her capture by the Germans who used her under the name TA 31 from 17 June 1944, only to be eventually disarmed and sunk in Genoa on 24 April 1945.
Introduced along with the initial Italian naval tree in Update "Starfighters", RN Dardo in practice is an enhancement of RN Turbine in terms of manoeuvrability and speed. In particular, the guns have greater accuracy at medium and long range. In battle, it is very advisable not to perform frontal attacks because of the light armour, but to instead attack from the side and launch torpedoes at enemies. With the manoeuvrability and acceleration of the ship you can also more easily dodge torpedoes or enemy bombs.
